Yes! An artistic label with a smattering of randomness, some earthiness, and some due diligence towards our environment.

It’s an eclectic mix of designs and morals which make up the Co7 label, but for me, it works harder than a medic on duty at 3am on a Saturday night.

If you’re trying to work out what I mean about randomness, take for example, exhibit A below, titled Eat Chips for the Baby Jesus.

Co7 is a new design driven apparel label working with a collective of riders, artists, designers and musicians.

Co7 believes in promoting the work of young visionaries who are pushing the boundaries; whether it being in their sport, art or simply a new way of thinking. With its roots in graphic design, music and boardsports, Co7 is at home on the shelves of boutiques and galleries as it is on those of your local surf and skateshop. Because Co7 is always on the lookout, searching for the latest ind esign we are producing some of the most unique and best-designed T-shirts to the market.

Each T-shirt is one of a limited edition print run of only 500. Co7 feel it is our duty to do what we can to look after our Planet. Where as the typical cotton t-shirt uses about 150 grams of acutely toxic pesticides and insecticides; that’s the size of a cup of sugar. Co7’s uses none. Vague Clothing’s had a new range out for a little while now.

Pictured below is the foray of fresh designs, they each come in a bunch more vibrant colours (the spectrum reminds me of a pack of Fruit Tingles).

As a gesture of courtesy, I’ve tastefully indicated my two faves amongst the strong bunch of seven designs pictured above (which was really just an excuse to exhibit my superior Microsoft Paint skills)….

I’m sure they have official names but I’ll just address them as grade A student and engorged comma.

Ok. So you’re 4 years old. And your mummy says to you “Whatever you do, don’t press the red button”. So what’s the first thing you try and do the moment she turns her back to whip you up some bangers and mash potato for dinner…../

Say g’day to Monkey Fist, fresh from the streets of Massachusetts in those United States of that big ol’ continent we know as America.

So what’s Monkey Fist got to do with the red button saga above?

Well, it’s a bit of a long and convoluted story. But you got this far. So you may as well keep going now. To stop would be a weak move. Like trying to swim from a deserted island to civilisation 4 miles away, getting 3.5 miles and thinking “aw heck, I’m not going to make, it’s just way too far” and swimming back. But I guess it’s easier to close your browser and log onto Facebook than swim 4 miles so I had better get a wriggle on hey.

My mate Kevin, the brains behind Monkey Fist, raised his human fist to point me towards the Monkey Fist website. A tasty looking site, with a tasty looking logo. But still no hint of a red button in sight….so how does this related to a 4 year old waiting for his mash potato?

Well, my furry little monkey friend, go to Monkey Fist website now, and look at the navigation at the bottom of the screen. Look at the item second from the right. The one beside “Contact”. What does it say? Ummmm….did someone say VIRUS?

But is it really a virus? Would a reputable, street-smart and savvy, tasty, fresh and downright cool label like Monkey Fist really force a virus upon its careless victims…oops, I mean….curious users.

Well, perhaps if you live in bubble-wrapped, overly safe and risk averse world, you will never know. But those who take risks are the only ones who enjoy the unspoilt paths where other’s are not game to tread.

I may have also neglected to mention that the Monkey Fist themselves are tastier than creamy mash potato with truffle oil. So which will it be - will you take the red pill, or the blue pill, Neo?

I pity da fool! Yep, you guessed it, I used to think Mr T was the bomb.

The Howies label has been on the scene for a while now. Skate inspired streetwear is their forte, and they’ve always offered a solid range of subtle yet stylish gear.

My ears pricked up recently when I heard the word about Howies’ latest initiative, Tshirt of the Week.

Last time I saw flaura, fauna and astronomy in succession I was trying to choose from the dreary selection of topics for my grade 3 school project.

I never thought I’d see the day where these topics became of interest. But alas, now I have seen the day.
And I hail it…. the-day-I-discovered-Phalanx-day.

Phalanx is a label based out of Germany. The complete range of tees is based on themes you’re more likely to come across in a primary school science lab.

Personally I was teased enough at school for my hopeless attempt at explaining to the year 3 class how native wildflowers flourished after Australia’s settlement in the 19th century, to ever dream of wearing a tee emblazoned with fauna. But hey, I’m sure there’s plenty of you out there who got A+’s for your school projects and want to re-live the memories!

There’s the occasional online tshirt store that really knows how to make you feel warmer and fuzzier than a nice wool jumper and hot water bottle in the middle of winter.

Say g’day to How 2 Tshirts, a British label providing one of the most enjoyable web experiences I’ve had in quite a while.

The How 2 Tshirts website is interactive, with tees sliding across your monitor on virtual hangers, digitally steam-pressed and crease-free, for you to ogle and drool over.

The tee designs, like the website itself, ooze style without over-doing things. It’s raw, but edgy. Like a good piece of fresh broccolli.

In one of those dark moods?

Akumu Ink is here to make sure your life is hell. Well, that’s how you want it to look, right?

Akumu Ink offer limited-edition designs printed on black American Apparel Fine Jersey cotton t-shirts.

Maybe I was asleep in my year 8 Japanese class, because it’s news to me that akumu is Japanese for nightmare.

The aptly dark and unique branding suits this label to a tee (no pun intended, I promise). Based in Montreal and launching in February 2008, their inspiration is gleaned from Japanese horror movies, the hardcore music scene, and black and white indie comic books.

Joey and Dora tell me they put a lot of effort into producing their quality, hand-printed products. Each tshirt is printed only once ordered, and individualized for each of customers with customized hang tags and a special Akumu Ink print on the bottom back. How that is all possible for $21 I will never know…and will never be game to question!

We were introduced to our good mate Dan from Sharp Shirter in D.C. on Tshirt Alert a year or two ago. Dan’s the man. If he can’t do it no one can.

And can he kick it. Yes he can. The Sharp Shirter tees have always been spot on, since the company founded back in August 2006. Want living proof, lap this up…

But I got so excited that I think I spilt a bit of my lavender tea on my crocheted doily when I saw the latest offering from Sharp Shirter… the freakishly intelligent device known as a “laptop skin”.

Teesub

Nope, it’s not a vessel that cruises beneath the depths of the ocean on a search and destroy mission.

Teesub is an Aussie outfit (pardon the pun) providing a magazine-style subscription service to the general public.

For less than $40 bucks Australian per “issue” (that is, per tshirt), you’ll receive the latest Teesub limited edition t-shirt right to your door. A new tee is released approximately every 6 weeks.

Each design is inspired by a current event, world issue or bizarre fact. The colour of each issue is thoughtfully selected chosen to compliment and accentuate the design.

I was lucky enough to receive the “Stallion Fight Club” tee pictured above. Now I might be slightly biased (since Fight Club is my favourite movie of all time), however this tee holds a very special place in my wardrobe. This tee is a unique colour that almost everyone can’t help but compliment, plus the simplicity of its design, the great quality fabric and the fit of the tshirt are second to none.

The latest issue of Teesub was released very recently, “The Sun in 3-D”, and is a refreshing reflection of the modern world’s reliance on this natural asset we often unduly take for granted.

Subs have always been a part of my life. In fact earlier today, I enjoyed a meatball sub with Southwest sauce and a dash of sweet chilli, plus all of the salad accompanients, except pickles of course.
