There’s a new trend developing in the t-shirt world. I’m feeling a little creative, so thought I might invent a new word to explain it.
Niche-shirts. What do you think? Pretty catchy hey? A niche-shirt is a term describing a t-shirt label who targets a specific niche of design - whether it be a certain theme, style or demographic. And let’s welcome today’s niche-shirt label….Contrast Shop
Contrast Shop produces a line of apparel with an artistic niche. What is that niche you ask? Simple graphic designs which communicate to their audience through contrast. We’re talking simple one-colour prints (sometimes two-colour but only where necessary), with basic yet effective outlines to produce emotive imagery.

Contrast Shop’s t-shirts, as well as hoodies, long-sleeve tees and sweaters, were conceived by a group of international designers during the winter of 2003/04 in London. These guys share a desire for individuality, and were after an affordable way to disperse their artwork.
The themes of the designs are always centred on people, their environment, symbols and emotions, as well as a mixture of individual characters. Contrasts distinctive style combined with the designers wish to represent a visual, colourful, and lively contrast, create the brand’s unique and unmistakable character.

Contrast Shop is unique in it’s ability to produce maximum impact through minimality. If you’re losing patience with the over-engineered, hyperactive designs being produced by the masses, Contrast Shop may just have a niche-shirt for you.
