I love music. Old rock with fuzzy guitars and raw thrashy percussion turned up LOUD simply can’t be beat.
But I tired of music tshirts a couple of years ago, back when it became cool to wear a Rolling Stones tshirt not because you were a fan of the band, but because you wanted to look ‘punk rock’ (ironic I know, since the ‘Stones are anything but punk).

Ok, since it’s Jessica Alba I’ll forgive her…
Now that they hype around the whole ‘instantaneous-punkification-by-wearing-a-token-band-tshirt’ has died down a bit, I’m back on the music tshirt bandwagon. To me, wearing your favourite artists on your chest is almost as close as you can get to wearing your heart on your sleeve.
The Funkulo clothing label, based out of Sydney, have managed to capture the essence of two of my all time favourite musicians on cotton.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience tshirt is inspired by one of the best albums of all time (NOTE: I’m on the hunt for the original vinyl LP of this as we speak, so if anyone has a copy to spare feel free to drop me a line).

This Bob Dylan tee by Funkulo is appropriately low-key to match the personality of this young musical legend, featuring a black print on a high quality white tshirt.

Funkulo also delve outside of the musical scene with their tshirt designs. Being a surfer and also recently a father, this vintage inspired tee of a youngster carrying a surfboard down the beach really struck a chord with me.
These fabulous tee’s were photographed in Sydney, Australia. If you can’t afford to take one of these amazing Sydney Holidays, pick up a t-shirt instead!
Funkulo was started by Sam Elsom, and is available from David Jones stores. I can’t seem to find an online store that stocks Funkulo, however if you do find one one please leave a comment below.
